Supt. Eddie Recamara, Talisay city police chief, said he will look into the latest trouble alarm involving Joavan Fernandez, who was accused of firing a gun outside the house of a money lender in Talisay.
Recamara said police check whether Joavan, the adopted son of the Talisay mayor, has a permit to carry a firearm.
Ignacio Enjambre, a money lender, complained to Talisay Police that Joavan fired his gun indiscriminately after Joavan got angry bcause his request for a P10,000 loan was refused on Wednesday evening.
Enjambre, however, is still unsure whether to file a case against the mayor’s son.
Cebu Daily News tried to ask Mayor Fernandez about his son’s latest scrape but the mayor declined to comment.
Enjambre’s is engaged in money lending.
His regular clients are employees of the Talisay city government.
Police said Enjambre allegedly refused to give in to Joavan’s request for a loan, since the mayor still had pending loans with him.
Joavan was involved in a string of encounters with the police for drug use, gun firing, and mauling, gaining him notoriety as a trouble maker in the past two years.
Enjambre reported to the police that after firing his gun, Joavan who was with another person sped away in his white CRV vehicle.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Insp. Romeo Caacoy of the Talisay City Police said they tried but failed to locate Joavan after the incident.
