Korean national robbed inside taxi

A Korean national reported to the police that he was robbed inside a taxicab in barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

Hee Min Ahn, 18, a native of Seoul Korea, said cash and an Android phone worth P50,000 was taken in the robbery.

The Korean told police that he flagged down a taxi in Cebu City past 2 a.m. last Wednesday and asked to be brought to his rented apartment in Cherry Pink Apartelle in Cabancalan.

The Korean said he tried to sit at the backseat but the door was locked. Ahn instead sat in front beside the driver.

The Korean said that while they were traveling, a man from the backseat appeared, pointed a knife at him and declared hold-up.

The Korean said the robber took his Android phone and wallet containing an undetermined amount of cash.

The Korean was told to disembark in Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Banilad.

The Korean reported to the Casuntingan police station and gave the taxi’s plate number which was GXC-186.

Police later found out with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) that the taxi was registered under M and J taxi.

Police located the taxicab but the Korean did not identify the driver as the same driver in the robbery.

The incident will be investigated further, said police.
