A P6-million check was turned over by the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama at the Cebu City Hall on July 17.
Regional Health Director Dr. Susana Madarieta said the budget is for the purchase of medical equipment for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) to improve the hospital’s services.
She said the amount was taken from the 2010 funding as the 2011 appropriation has yet to arrive.
Madarieta said the city government would conduct a bidding for the procurement of medical equipment.
Dr. Eduardo Sedoripa, CCMC chief, said the money will be used to buy laboratory equipment like hematologic and chemistry analyzer.
Mayor Rama extended his gratitude to DOH-7.
He further thanked the DOH-7 for continuously helping the city.
Previously, the DOH-7 assisted the Cebu City government in allocating a budget of P8 million for the renovation of Guba Satellite Emergency Hospital in barangay Guba, Cebu City, and another P6 million for medical equipment in the hospital. USJ-R Intern Giovanni F. Garcia
