MANILA, Philippines – Former President Joseph Estrada on Thursday called Senator Antonio Trillanes IV a “liar,” “ungrateful,” and “crazy” for allegedly destroying other people’s names just to get publicity.

“This Trillanes is really a liar. I don’t think the Senate President will allow him to be a lackey of anybody. I know him,” Estrada said in a phone patch interview with Senate reporters.

The former leader was reacting to Trillanes’ claim that Enrile was a lackey of former President and Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Estrada also blasted Trillanes for calling Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto del Rosario a “traitor.”

“He’s out of his mind. He’s doing crazy things just to get publicity,” he said.

“To get the people’s attention he would destroy respectable people. He has not done anything as a senator. Who can mention one?” the former president said.

Estrada also called Trillanes “ungrateful” for turning his back on the people who supported his senatorial bid in 2007 under the Genuine Opposition or GO.

“Ungrateful. That’s what I can say,” he said.

From GO, Estrada noted how Trillanes moved from one party to another – from GO in 2007 to Senator Manny Villar’s Nacionalista Party in 2010, and now to President Benigno Aquino III’s Liberal Party.

“(It’s a) biggest mistake to support this kind of person. I really regret supporting him,” Estrada said.

“He’s gone swell-headed. It’s surprising he can still fit into an elevator ,” he added.
