Judge in Arroyo couple’s tax case named to Court of Appeals

MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III has appointed to the Court of Appeals the judge now handling the tax evasion case against partylist Representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and wife Angela.

The appointment as associate justice of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Marie Christine A. Jacob was contained In a transmittal letter dated September 18 sent by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Jacob replaces Court of Appeals Associate Justice Josefina Guevarra-Salonga who retired at the mandatory age of 70.

Others who were appointed to the Court of Appeals were Iligan Regional Trial Court Judge Oscar Badelles and another Quezon City RTC Judge, Henry Paul Inting.

The two replaced Court of Appeals Associate Justices Juan Enriquez and Antonio Villamor.
