Man faces charges for father’s death

POLICE are set to file parricide charges against a man tagged as a suspect in the killing of his father in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.

Four witnesses implicated Glenn Niñeza in the death of his father, retired jail officer Simplicio Niñeza, said Senior Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, homicide section chief of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Niñeza was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the body inside his house last Tuesday afternoon.

Jamiri said Glenn was seen leaving the house shortly after bursts of gunfire were heard.

Glenn denied any wrongdoing. He said he was in his girlfriend’s house when his father was killed.

Police said the father and son were not in good terms and that they have fought several times over money.

Glenn was also accused of using illegal drugs.

“Suko kaayo ang amahan sa paghilambigit ni Glenn sa drugs (The father was very angry because Glenn was using drugs),” said Jamiri.

Jamiri said one of the witnesses told him that before the killing, Glenn was seen in the house with a firearm.

Another witness said that the night before the killing, the father and son were heard having heated altercations.

At least six empty shells of a .45 pistol were recovered in the crime scene./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
