More rains seen in Metro Manila—Pagasa

A shallow low pressure spotted east of Quezon province has only a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone but it may continue to bring rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and other parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

As of Wednesday morning, the shallow low pressure area was spotted at 280 kilometers east of Infanta town, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a bulletin, the weather bureau said Metro Manila will experience occasional light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, with moderate winds blowing from the west to southwest.

“Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with occasional moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms. The rest of Southern Luzon will experience occasional light to moderate rains and thunderstorms,” it added.

The rains will usually be accompanied by thunder and lightning due to the prevailing southwest monsoon, and typically occurring at night until the early morning, Pagasa said.
