BO-PK survey to finalize choice between Raul, Cutie

/ 07:36 AM September 19, 2012

FATHER and daughter can’t agree which of them will run for Congress in Cebu City’s north district next year.

To help them decide, a survey will be held among barangay captains of the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) to choose the best candidate.

Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district said he would do the survey to help incumbent Rep. Rachel “Cutie” del Mar and her father, Raul, the former representative, to decide who between them would run.

“They have not made up their minds so I said why should they be the ones to decide? Let BO-PK decide,” he said.

Osmeña, who was in Manila for the regular session of Congress yesterday, said his survey will later be extended to include their allied barangay leaders.

Osmeña also said he has yet to receive the Liberal Party (LP) certificate confirming his certificate of nomination as the party’s bet for the mayoralty seat.

“The certificate is not yet ready. But I am not waiting,” said Osmeña.

He said the BO-PK will continue to field candidates in the 2013 election even without a national party affiliation.

Still, Osmeña admitted that the LP’s decision to support him was an added boost to his political plans.

As the duly recognized LP City chairman, Osmeña said he would be able to choose other LP candidates.

Mayor Michael Rama, however, holds on to the hope he will be the LP’s official candidate, not Osmena.

Rama said he wa an active member who pays regular party dues.

Osmeña reportedly received a message from the Liberal Party (LP) national headquarters telling him that his certificate of nomination was already ready for pick up last Sept.18.
