NINE workers of the Cebu City’s Parks and Playgrounds Commission initially tested positive in a surprise drug test yesterday.
Five casual employees and four job-order workers admitted that they were using shabu before the urine tests were conducted.
The results still have to undergo a confirmatory test to be conclusive.
Parks and Playground Commission acting chief Arlie Gesta said that he was surprised by the results of the test conducted by the Cebu City Office on Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) because he didn’t expect six of them are drug users.
The results will be sent to Manila for another stage of confirmatroy tests.
If the results are still positive, the report will be submitted to the city’s Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) and City Legal Office for action. The workers woud face dismisal or non-renewal of their contracts /Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao
