Unitec logs second win
DEFENDING champion Unitec upped its record to 2-0 (win-loss) after beating Puyat Steel, 84-72, in the second week of action in the United Architects Basketball Club 3rd Corporate Cup last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
After eking past Durabend during opening weekend, Unitec followed it up with a masterful win brought about by a great second period performance that saw the team push a four-point lead after the opening canto into a 15-point bulge, 47-32, at halftime.
Criz Matunog led the squad with 21 points.
Durabend also made its way to the win column as it got past Matimco, 66-60.
Matimco nearly came all the way back from a 16-point deficit at the start of the fourth canto but were foiled by the baskets made by Jay Radomes and this writer near the end.
Cebu Homes and Builders also upset Boysen, 75-68, with Oliver Maspinas tallying 28 points.
