Car thieves strike thrice within 24 hours in QC

Another sport utility vehicle was taken at gunpoint from its owner by three men at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, the third SUV to be stolen within a 24-hour period in Quezon City.

Antonio Interino, 74, the owner of a silver Honda CRV (XGL 837), said that he had just stopped on Mindanao Avenue when three armed men, including one who was wearing a light blue police shirt, got into the vehicle.

He added that they pushed him and his housemaid into the back seat, told them to keep their heads down as they drove off.

Case investigator Police Officer 3 Dennis Telen said the car thieves let Interino and his maid out of the vehicle in Valenzuela City.

When he was shown file photos of known criminals, Interino tagged a suspected member of the Onad car theft gang, Telen added.

On Saturday afternoon, a black Nissan Navarra (NUO 975) owned by Arlen de Guzman and a red Mitsubishi Montero (NNO 374) belonging to Dr. Walter Tejada were stolen separately in Quezon City.
