UC Team A rules Jawad Table Tennis Cup

UNIVERSITY of Cebu’s Team A composed of Daniel Jay Tormis, Val Stephen Jaca and Nielben Carreon topped the 21st Jawad Table Tennis Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The UC victory denied Hua Ching Foundation a repeat title as the Webmasters breezed through the finals against the Table Tennis Association of North District (TATAND) Royal Paddlers of Binondo, Manila.

Hua Ching Foundation settled for third place.

TATAND didn’t go home empty-handed as former national player Japeth Adaza topped the men’s open singles by beating Tormis in the final round.

Hua Ching Foundation’s Jason Rodriguez rounded off the top three in the category.

Tormis, meanwhile, dominated the boys 18-under category by beating former Webmaster John Marie Nayre, who played under Hua Ching Foundation.

Jaca grabbed the third spot in the category.

Kent Edwin Abellanosa added another win for UC as he lorded the boys 13-under category.

Elonna Dane Tormis also won for UC as she ruled the women’s open singles by winning over her teammate Jennifer Jacalan.

Fellow Webmaster Jerny Kaye Pepito dominated the girls 18-under after winning over fellow Webmasters Jeramae Saromines.
