Rain alert in Metro Manila downgraded from orange to yellow
MANILA, Philippines—The state weather bureau lowered the rainfall alert from orange (intense rains) to yellow (heavy rains) in Metro Manila Sunday at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday.
“Moderate to heavy rainfall was observed over Manila, Pasig and Napindan for the past one hour and is less likely to continue for the next two to three hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 8:15p.m advisory.
Yellow warning, or heavy rains, is the lowest rainfall alert, with an amount of 7.5 mm to 15 mm per hour.
Pagasa earlier raised the orange alert at 6:10 p.m. after 45 mm to 65 mm of rainfall per hour was observed in the cities of Manila, Pasay, Taguig, Pasig and Marikina for the previous two hours. In raising the orange alert, Pagasa alerted Metro Manila residents for possible floods, particularly in low-lying areas.
