Metro Manila residents warned of more rains, floods Sunday evening

MANILA, Philippines—Residents in Metro Manila have been warned to brace for floods, particularly in low-lying areas, as Orange warning (intense rains) was raised by the state weather bureau in parts of Metro Manila Sunday evening.

The Orange warning was up in Manila, Pasay, San Juan, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, Taguig, Pateros, southern portion of Quezon City and Marikina, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in an advisory issued at 6:10 p.m.

“Heavy to intense rainfall was observed over Manila, Pasay, Taguig, Pasig and Marikina for the past two hours and most likely to continue for the next two to three hours,” it said.

Moderate to heavy rainfall was seen over the rest of Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, intermittent moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over the Cordillera Administrative Region and in the provinces Quirino, Nueva Ecija and Aurora, which may trigger flash floods and landslides.

The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have occasional light to moderate rains.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in the evening., Pagasa said.
