Chopped human body parts inside plastic bag found in middle of EDSA

MANILA, Philippines — A transparent plastic bag containing chopped human body parts was discovered in the middle of EDSA in Guadalupe, Makati, on Sunday morning, causing traffic jams for at least an hour.

Superintendent Jaime Santos, acting Makati police chief, said the bag of dismembered body parts was mistaken for trash by several motorists approaching the Guadalupe Bridge on EDSA. “They had simply ignored it and because it was right in the middle of the road, it was run over several times,” he said.

Around 8 a.m. when the bag was dragged by a taxi a few meters, street sweeper of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority took notice of what was obstructing the traffic and was shocked to see human body parts–a foot and internal organs stuffed inside the plastic bag.

“It was like a dead cat thrown in EDSA at the boundary of Makati and Mandaluyong,” Santos said.

He said the Makati police will check if closed-circuit television cameras installed on EDSA had captured who dumped the human body parts.

“Our investigators were also coordinating with other police precincts in Metro Manila to check for similar incidents,” he added.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives cordoned off the portion where the body parts were found and scoured the area for clues.

Charlie Nosares of the MMDA Metrobase, said the SOCO’s presence stalled the traffic on the northbound lane of EDSA from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
