24 hurt as bus plunges into ravine in Maguindanao

South Upi, Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY – At least 24 persons were wounded when a mini-bus plying the Cotabato City-Lebak, Sultan Kudarat route plunged into a ravine in South Upi, Maguindanao Saturday, officials said.

Police Officer 3 James Biscarra, South Upi police investigator said the bus was negotiating a downward curve in Barangay (village) Looy when the vehicle suffered a mechanical problem that forced the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.

The mini-bus of Sema Express Liner bumped the metal railings of the box culvert used as a bridge before plunging into a ravine.

Passengers hurt in the incident were rushed to hospitals and clinics in North Upi, Maguindanao.
