UNDEFEATED bantamweight prospect of Cagayan de Oro Albert “Prince” Pagara (12-0, 9KOs) will spearhead ALA Boxing Promotion’s Bakbakan sa Balamban fight card this coming Sept. 28 at the Mayor Esperanza Binghay Memorial Complex in Balamban town, Western Cebu.
Pagara faces a battle-scarred veteran Marvin “Bato” Tampus (27-15, 18KOs) in the main event.
As an added treat to boxing fans in Balamban, ALA Boxing Promotions will also pit light welterweight stars Jason “El Niño” Pagara and Jimrex “Executioner” Jaca in an exhibition match.
The main fight will be Albert Pagara’s fourth bout this year. His most recent was an impressive unanimous decision victory over Alvin Makiling last Aug. 18 in the Pinoy Pride XV undercard at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Pagara has to win over Tampus, a former Pan-Asia Boxing Association (PABA) light flyweight champion, to cement his status as one of the best young prospects in the country today.
Tampus bowed down to ALA pug Michael Domingo via knockout in the first round in Bohol earlier this year.
In the supporting bout, Mharjhun Macahilig (15-2, 9KOs) will go up against Gerpaul TI Yamagata Valero (11-13, 7KOs), while another ALA Gym ward Mark Bernaldez (6-0, 4KOs) will protect his unblemished record against Butuan City’s Ranie Pamatian (6-12, 1KO).
Other bouts pit Roma Rate against Sherwin Caday, Crispin Parba versus Jeffrey Segara and crowd favorite Jojo “Flash” Intor against Johnrey Lontiong. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
