IN order to give more exposure to its elite boxers and promote world-class boxing in the country, ALA Boxing Promotions is set to embark on a country-wide tour starting this November.
To be spearheaded by WBO minimumweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, the ALA boxers will hold non-title fights in different towns and cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in the event dubbed ALA Stars Provincial Tour.
Nietes will be joined by WBO world no. 1 bantamweight contender AJ “Bazooka” Banal, IBF no. 4 featherweight contender Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista, WBO no. 1 flyweight contender Milan “El Metodico” Melindo, WBO International junior welterweight champion Jason “El Nino” Pagara, WBO Asia Pacific champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania and Rocky “Road Warrior” Fuentes.
The event is part of ALA Boxing Promotions’ way of giving thanks to the Filipino boxing fans who supported the 15 boxing events it staged in the past three years.
“This is ALA and our fighters’ way of saying thank you to the loyal boxing fans from the far provinces who have supported us through the years and has contributed to the remarkable ratings of Pinoy Pride,” said ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer.
The boxing bouts against foreign fighters will serve as tuneups for the ALA elite boxers for the upcoming Pinoy Pride events.
The first stop of the tour has yet to be decided but will be announced later. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
