A DEAN of one of Cebu City’s colleges is facing charges for acts of lasciviousness for allegedly making sexual advances on a teenage student whom he brought to a motel in Mandaue City last Aug. 29.
The complaint was filed with the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
The student, a minor, said the dean texted her that he wanted to see her for something important that day. He was waiting in his car at the North Bus Terminal when she alighted from a jeepney.
She and he invited her to go out to eat to celebrate the college department’s winning the sports intramurals.
In her affidavit, the student said she declined because she was on her way to class and was embarassed to be seen going out with him but the dean was insistent and would not take no for an answer.
The student said she got in out of respect for the dean and rode in the back.
But rather than heading to school, the dean brought her to the Moonlight Inn in the North Reclamation Area .
The student said she was shaking with fear and was too shocked to cry out after she found out the car was locked.
In the motel, the dean in a loud voice told her to get into the room. The student said she pleaded to be let out, and was crying.
In the room, the man allegedly told her “I love you” and groped her body. After the encounter, the school official warned the student not to tell anyone about it and dropped her off at a mall.
The student said she was too traumatized to tell her parents face to face and wrote her mother a letter about what happened. This led to the filing of the police complaint.
Cebu Daily News tried to call up the dean, but a female who answered the phone said they will wait for their lawyer’s advice on the case.
Insp. Ramil Morpos said the case may be elevated to the Ombudsman-Visayas since the man was a government employee.
He said the student and her family appeared determined to pursue the criminal charge ./Correspondent Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
