MANILA, Philippines – Senator Loren Legarda said she has not received any invitation yet from the Liberal Party to join its senatorial ticket in 2013 despite a party official’s claim that she has been reserved a slot in the slate.
“I am NPC [Nationalist People’s Coalition] and I have invitations to be adopted by coalitions,” Legarda said in a text message on Tuesday.
“I will run as NPC. The NPC and LP are talking about local offcials coalition but I have not received any invite from the Liberal Party,” she said.
Asked if she would run under the United Alliance (UNA) or if there was a possibility that she would be fielded as common candidate of both UNA and the LP coalitions, the senator said, “Let officials declare that at the proper time.”
“But I will run as NPC, which is my political party. I thank the coalitions who are inviting me,” Legarda added.
UNA is a coalition formed by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s PDP- Laban and former President Joseph Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.
