2nd MEPZ-HRA Football set Sept. 16 to 30
THE MEPZ-HRA Sports Fest 2012 will hold the 2nd MEPZ-HRA Football Festival on Sept. 16 and 30 at the Aboitiz Sports Field at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
From a one-day event, organizer Irving Padillo set up the tournament over two days after this year’s edition attracted more participants than it did last year.
The sportsfest is initiated by the Human Resources Association (HRA) of the Mactan Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) to foster physical fitness, camaraderie and sportsmanship among the companies.
The 9-a-side football festival will have its qualifying round on Sept. 16 and playoffs and finals on Sept. 30.
Around 15 teams will be vying for the title in the men’s open while three teams will be contesting the ladies open title.
Men’s open champion Lear FC and 1st runner-up FC Timex will be back to see action.
New teams competing are HPOI, Cebu Mitsumi, Lexmark R&D and Taiyo Yuden. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
