Barili booters deny SHS-AdC title sweep

BARILI FC denied Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu from sweeping all the titles in the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Friendship Cup 2012 held over the weekend at the school’s Canduman campus in Mandaue City.

The Magis Eagles clinched the titles in the players 10, boys 15 and girls 17 while the players 8 title went to Barili FC.

Barili FC burst past San Roque Football Club (SRFC) A, 1-0, for the players 8 title.

It started with a sluggish performance in the eliminations finishing only third in group C with seven points coming from a 2-1-1 (win-draw-loss) record.

The team started to come alive in the quarterfinal round with a 2-0 blanking of SRFC-B and inflicting the same score over the Magis Eagles in the semifinals.

In the players 10, SHS-AdC edged Warshockz, 1-0, for the title. In the boys under 15, the Eagles’ boys 14 team blanked Sons of Sweat United (SOS), 2-0, for the crown.

The Magis Eagles bagged the girls 17 title with a 1-0 victory against University of San Carlos (USC). /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
