Maid quizzed on abduction of baby boy from QC hospital

MANILA, Philippines — The househelper of a mother who lost her newborn baby at a Quezon City hospital is now being considered as a suspect in the abduction case.

Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega, the Quezon City Police District director, said mother Ces de los Santos talked to the police about her maid’s possible involvement.  The police are withholding the name of the maid pending her investigation.

De los Santos was at the QCPD headquarters on Monday, to give her statement to investigators manning the women and children protection desk.

Senior Inspector Rowena Lambojo, the WCPD chief, said they were suspecting that two to three persons might have been involved in the alleged abduction at the Sta. Teresita General Hospital last Sept. 4.

The abductor, a woman, reportedly posed as a doctor and took the three-day-old baby for a newborn screening test that day.

Lambojo added that, as of Monday, they still did not have any idea where the baby boy could be.

She said the househelper agreed to undergo a lie-detector or polygraph test, the results of which would be available at a proper time.
