MAN FALLS IN DRUG BUST

A 29-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Ibabao, Cordova  town, off Mactan Island, Cebu.

Mark Nuñez allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer when he was arrested past 2 a.m. yesterday.

Nuñez’s alleged cohort Jec-jec Degamo eluded arrest, said police.

Police said the operation was made due to persistent reports that the two men were involved in illegal drug activities.

MAN STABS NEIGHBOR

AN 18-YEAR-OLD man repeatedly stabbed his neighbor, who allegedly mauled him twice last Friday noon in barangay Day-as, Cordova town, off Mactan Island, Cebu.

Marque Pacaldo, 18, was arrested after the incident.

Pacaldo admitted to the police that he and the victim Jestoni Baguio bore grudges against each other.

Police said that during the first mauling, Pacaldo ran home and took a knife.

The two men crossed paths again which ended up with Baguio mauling Pacaldo again.

During the scuffle, Pacaldo drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Baguio.

Neighbors brought Baguio to the hospital.

GUARD KILLED IN BIKE CRASH

A 40-YEAR-OLD security guard died in a motorcycle crash at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

Alin Abrea, a security guard of Password Security Agency, was declared dead at the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police said no one came forward to describe what happened.

Police said it was possible that Abrea was thrown off the road after his motorcycle was hit from behind by another vehicle.

Police said the rear portion of Abrea’s Yamaha YBR motorcycle with plate number 5326-GS was damaged./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

9/11 TERROR ATTACKS

AUTHORITIES are on heightened alert for the commemoration of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, chief of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said while there is no specific threat, police will be on alert.

Hotels and other establishments in Mandaue will be checked while checkpoints and foot patrol will be intensified, said Gillamac.
