Almost 400 families or 2,000 individuals were displaced when flashflood hit two barangays in Malungon town in Sarangani province on Saturday.
Malungon Mayor Reynaldo Constantino said the overflowing of the Tinagacan River had flooded Malandag and Datal Tampal on Saturday night. As the floodwater rose, some residents were seen on top of roofs and trees.
Water has subsided Sunday morning, showing the extent of damage on properties. Constantino said the Kiblat Bridge, which connects most barangays in Malungon, was damaged. Most of the evacuees have also started to return to their homes. Aquiles Z. Zonio, Inquirer Mindanao
