Score logs first win
THE SPORTS Correspondents and Reporters (Score)/Lens broke into the win column with an easy 73-52 win over defending champion Defense PNP Press Corps (DEPP) yesterday in the 2012 Cebu Press Freedom Basketball Cup at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gymnasium.
Jonas Panerio fired a game-high 28 points as Score/Lens bounced back from a 57-71 opening day loss to Capitol Beat.
Behind its well-distributed offense, Score dominated the contest right from the opening tip as Edri Aznar, and Lemuel Maglinte contributed 18 and 14, respectively. This writer had 12 points. Edgar Escalante scored 26 points as DEPP fell to 0-2 (win-loss).
The two teams missed key players as Score played without Rico Navarro, Dale Rosal and Emmanuel Villaruel while the explosive duo of Jojo Satuita and Gabriel Bonjoc also failed to suit up for DEPP.
In the other game, the unbeaten City Hall Association of Reporters and Media (Charm) pocketed its second straight win via a tight 49-47 win over Capitol Beat.
