Blue shocks Limasawa in Abbariao Cup

BLUE of Collector Ronnie Silvestre upset Limasawa Customs Brokerage of Limasawa Mayor Mel Petracorta, 89-87, for its 3rd win in seven games (3-4) and a spot in the quarterfinal round, while the latter remained in second place with a 5-2 card in the Bureau of Customs-3rd Major Alfonso Abbariao Cup-2012 basketball tournament at the Benedicto College gym.

Blue looked headed for an easy win as it led by double digits in the first three periods but Limasawa unloaded a 26-18 run in the fourth then tied the count at 87-all on Francis Palero’s charities with eight seconds left.

Then, in the return play, Blue’s Ferdie Laraga canned a buzzer-beating layup for the final tally.

Rizan Herbito led Blue with 26 points while Francis Palero and Taks Moral paced Limasawa with 24 and 17 points, respectively.

In the main game, Green scored a come-from-behind, 95-78 win over Avenido Customs Brokerage for its 5th win in seven games good for third place.

Avenido took big leads in the first three periods but Green staged a blistering, 39-13 rally in the fourth to complete the improbable win.

Jan Mose led Green with 17 points spiked by four trifectas, while Medalle added 16 points.
