MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health has started its investigation into the abduction of a newly-born baby boy from the Sta. Teresita General Hospital in Quezon City, which is in danger of losing its license to operate over the incident.
Health Assistant Secretary Nick Lutero III, in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM, said they have ordered the hospital to submit an incident report within three days.
Lutero said they would determine what happened and if there were lapses on the part of the hospital.
If found guilty of neglect, Lutero said, the hospiral may be fined, suspend its license plus fine or revoke its license.
“And then we will send the result of our investigation to PhilHealth for the sanction that they will also impose,” Lutero said.
“It is the responsibility of the hospital to take care of their patients and ensure their safety while inside their premises…We promise them [family of the baby] a faithful and very objective investigation,” Lutero said.
