DOJ panel formed to review tax evasion rap vs Coronas
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DoJ) has formed a panel to review the tax evasion case filed against former Chief Justice Renato Corona, his daughter and her husband.
Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Roseanne Balauag will act as chairperson while Prosecution Attorneys Ronald Estepa and Javee Laurence Bandong will act as members of the panel.
Justice Udersecretary Francisco Baraan said they were hoping to come up with a resolution within 60 days.
A P150.68 million tax evasion complaint was filed against Corona, his daughter Ma. Carla Beatriz C. Castillo and son-in-law Constantino Castillo III.
BIR investigation showed that Corona’s deficiency income tax liability was at P120.5 million.
