Seminars, job fair, exhibit at Philconstruct Visayas

SEMINARS about the construction industry, a job fair and a three-day expo of new construction and building products will be held during the the Philconstruct Visayas 2012 from Sept. 6 to 8 at the Cebu Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in barangay Lahug.

This would be the third time that the show, which is considered as one of the biggest construction shows in the country, would be held in Cebu, said Peter Paul Dy, president of the Cebu Contractors Association Inc. (PCA) yesterday at the opening of the event.

About 150 companies from the construction and building industry are expected to display their new products at the event.

The seminars during the expo will include “Green Concrete Technology” organized by cement firm, Cemex Philippines.

A job fair will also be held on the Sept. 8 organized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

Director Ador Canlas, Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas chief, who was a guest in the event cited the infrastructure projects in the region.

Canlas said the DPWH had already allocated a budget of P5.75 billion for 190 projects, which had been 44 percent completed.

Dy said the event would give an opportunity for manufacturers to increase their sales and market their products./Correspondent Joy Quito
