THE Legal Alternatives for Women (LAW) Center Inc., with the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), recently conducted a two-day training on work values and productivity and longganisa making in four barangays in Cebu Province.
The activity was in line with the center’s women empowerment project dubbed as “Wise,” which aims to teach women about the sustainable income-generating activities.
The center forged partnership with the local government units to enhance the capabilities of of the more than 150 women in managing livelihood programs in barangay Sac-Sac, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu (July 3 and 4); barangay Busogon, San Remegio, northern Cebu (July 24 and 25); and barangays Poblacion West (Aug. 16-17) and Buguil (Aug. 30-31) in Moalboal town, southwest Cebu.
Aside from teaching how to make longganisa, the participants were given inputs on work values and productivity and small scale management entrepreneurship with marketing strategies facilitated by Noemi Igloria and Geneva Cambongga, both from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – DOLE Central Visayas.
LAW Inc. also briefed the women on the Magna Carta of women and the Provincial Women Development Code.
