Hours after they were abducted from their house in Makati City on Wednesday morning, four Taiwanese nationals were rescued by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents from a hotel on Quirino Avenue in Manila.
Two of the victims were found chained to the bed in a hotel room.
The eight kidnappers, who turned out to be Taiwanese as well, were arrested while they were guarding their captives. Nabbed along with them was a Filipino woman identified as Catherine Genettia Taruc, 28, a native of San Miguel, Bulacan.
Arrested were Hung-Chang Lai, Ting Chien-Lai, Lin Cheng Cho, Cheng-Hao-Hung, Jyun-Kai Zeng, Hung Chuan Chan, Wei Ming Lio and Yan Pen Yang.
The NBI said it received a report about the abduction of Lai Yen Hung, Yin Hanbing, Hsu Hsin-Chung and Jian Nan from one of the victims’ neighbors.
