MANILA, Philippines—Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim ordered on Thursday a manhunt for the couple accused of maltreating their former housemaid amid reports that the suspects have been hiding in Manila.
Lim instructed Senior Superintendent Robert Po, Manila Police District deputy superintendent for operations, to form a task force to locate and arrest Analiza and Reynold Marzan, who are facing serious illegal detention charges at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
Analiza is also charged with attempted homicide and serious physical injury for allegedly torturing Bonita Baran until she went blind.
Lawyer Persida Acosta of the Public Attorney’s Office sought the help of the Manila police after receiving information that the suspects have been hiding in Manila.
