Pagcor donates video cameras, chairs to police

INSTEAD of giving cash reward for the arrest of its employee accused of stealing P2.8 million, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) donated video cameras and plastic armchairs to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Roque Cervantes, Casino Filipino-Cebu manager, and Jun-jun Osmeña, Pagcor-Mandaue manager, turned over seven video cameras and 80 plastic armchairs to the PRO-7.

Osmeña said they opted to donate equipment which could be used for police operations.

The donation came after Pascual Urian was arrested by operatives of Regional Special Operation Group (RSOG) last month.

Urian was accused of stealing P2.8 million from a casino vault of (Pagcor) in Mandaue City last July.

Urian, who was convinced by his aunt to surrender, yielded to the police in Panay town in Capiz and turned over the P1,485,500 in cash.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, chief of PRO-7, said having the new equipment would help boost the morale of the policemen./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
