Cloudy skies, scattered rainshowers loom in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – Luzon will mostly have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers due to an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

Winds merge in an ITCZ, which is a breeding ground of potential low pressure areas.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5p.m. bulletin.

The low pressure area off Quezon monitored by Pagasa dissipated late Wednesday morning.

Light southeasterly winds will prevail over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be slight except during thunderstorms. Elsewhere winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas.
