MANILA, Philippines — Two people were killed in a landslide incident in Naga City, Cebu Tuesday evening, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
The fatalities were identified as Dionisio and Juliana Villarmia, aged 42 and 47, respectively.
Citing reports from the Naga City Police Office, the Villarmia family, composed of the couple and four children, were about to sleep when their house made of light materials was hit by rushing boulders due to soil erosion in Sitio (sub-village)Pangilatan, Cantao-an village at about 6:20p.m.
The body of Juliana was recovered nearly two hours later, while Dionisio died at Minglanilla District Hospital in Cebu.
The four children survived the incident and are now under the custody of the City of Social Welfare and Development, the NDRRMC said.
