CITY DAD LOSES IPAD

CEBU City Councilor Joey Daluz fell prey to unidentified thieves while eating in a restaurant in barangay San Roque, Cebu City.

Daluz lost his clutch bag containing an iPad and important documents while eating at AA Restaurant at noon yesterday.

Daluz had three companions.

Insp. Rolando Pinili, chief of the theft and robbery section of the Cebu City police, said the incident was captured by the restaurant security camera but the video footage was unclear.

Police said the footage showed that the thieves sat near Daluz’s table and slowly moved their chairs where the bag was placed.

The incident will be investigated further, said police. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

FARMER’S NECK SLASHED

A 32-YEAR-OLD farmer died after his neighbor slashed his neck with a scythe in barangay Capt. Claudio, Toledo City , southern Cebu.

Police are looking into personal grudges as the motive behind the killing of Silverio Aleser.

The suspect Teody Risane and his alleged cohort, Diosdado Cabilles fled after the attack.

Police said Aleser was attacked while plowing the cornfield in sitio Guincamote around 6 p.m. last Wednesday.

A wounded Aleser ran to a neighbor’s house about 20 meters from the cornfield.

Aleser sought help from his father Martin and his neighbor Pabling Enggaling who were harvesting corn outside the house.

Silverio later fell on the ground and died.

FARMER FOUND HANGING DEAD

SADDENED by an accusation that he stole cash from an appliance store, a barangay tanod in Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree.

Joselito Rosell was found by his 18-year-old son suspended from a branch of a mango tree with a nylon rope tied around his around 5 a.m. last Monday.

Police said a suicide note believed to have been written by Rosell was found on the ground under the tree.

“Mama pasaylo-a ko sa akong gibuhat sa pagpakamatay tungod sa kaulaw sa atong mga anak nga dili nako binuhatan ug mama ayaw pasagdi atong mga anak. I love you mama.” (Mama forgive me for committing suicide because I was embarrassed with the accusation. Take care of our children. I love you),” read the note.

Juvy, the tanod’s wife, told police that Joselito looked very sad last Saturday when he confided to her that he was accused by a friend of stealing P70,000 cash from Sun Power Appliance Center owned by Edna Cuyos in barangay Poblacion.

PO3 Alfredo Nadal of the Daanbantayan police in Cebuano said the theft was reported but Joselito was not one of the suspects.

Joselito’s wife, Juvy claimed that the accusation of her husband’s friend Estela Rosas was just a joke.

Police said around 8 a.m. last Sunday, Joselito left for work together with fellow tanod Remy Dela Fuente.

At Pajo barangay hall, Dela Fuente told police that Joselito borrowed a pen from him and asked permission to go home around 3 a.m. last Monday.

Dela Fuente said Joselito never returned.

Two hours later, the tanod was found by his son hanging dead at the back of their house.

The tanod was brought to the Daanbantayan District Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending physician. .

Police said there were no signs of foul play on Joselito’s death and that his relatives were convinced that it was a suicide./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

EX-INMATE KILLED

A FORMER inmate was shot dead by two motorcycle riding men in barangay Langtad, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Marny Aliasot succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Witnesses told police that the assailants drove toward sitio Mohon after the attack past 3 p.m. last Monday.

Responding policemen found Aliasot slumped on the ground and rushed him to the Minglanilla District Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending physician.

Police recovered three empty shells and a slug of a .45 caliber from the scene.

Aliasot was previously jailed at the Naga police precinct for physical injuries, said Supt. Eduardo Saavedra, chief of the Naga police.

Further investigation will be made to determine the motive of the attack and identify the assailants, said police./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
