/ 09:07 AM September 04, 2012

More than  200 children from sitio Oprra in barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City enjoyed an afternoon of fun, games and food provided by the University of San Carlos – South Grade School batch 1988 last July 21 during their charity event.

The outreach program was one of the activities lined up for 24th graduation anniversary celebration of the batch.

Lawyer Myrfi Gonzalez, batch coordinator, said the original plan was for the batch to hold a reunion. However, one of the batch mates insisted on also doing an outreach activity.

Gonzalez said that Angelo Villanueva, a batch member who is based in the United States, suggested them to hold an outreach activity as their way of giving back to the community, especially that most of the batch members are now successful in their respective fields.

“We chose Oprra because one of our batch mates has been doing charity work there for quite some time,” she said.

The members of the batch who joined the activity had fun playing ate and kuya to the children beneficiaries, who were also given school supplies after the event.

The batch, Atty. Gonzalez said, plans to make the outreach activity an annual event. “We will tap batch mates who are barangay officials to determine our future beneficiaries,” she added.
