Cops eyes gun-for-hire in Consolacion attack
Police said a gun-for-hire was responsible for the shootings of a father and son in a Consolacion town public market over the weekend.
According to the police investigation, Lope Demecillo, 35, owner of a market stall, had an argument with another man near the public market in barangay Cansaga, Consolacion town last Friday.
On Saturday night, Demecillo and his 74-year-old father Benjamin were tending to their stall when a lone gunman who wore a full-face helmet arrived and fired at them.
Lope was hit in the left and hips while Benjamin was shot in the right foot. The gunman fled on a Yamaha Mio motorcycle towards barangay Nangka.
Police recovered three empty shells from a .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, in barangay Victoria, San Remigio town northern Cebu, police said they were checking if it was a “local boy” who shot dead a farmer and fisherman last Saturday.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said they had three witnesses to the attack and killing of farmer Teodoro Remando, 53, and fisherman Rolando Dacayana, 49.
Article continues after this advertisementA man posing as a courier shot dead the two victims and wounded Saladel Marianita, Dacayana’s partner, and Remando’s grandson, Remando Jr., 17.
