A TOTAL of 25 private schools will compete in the J Centre Mall Hoop Stars 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Sept. 8 at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
The tournament will feature competition in the 10-under, 12-under,14-under and 16-under categories.
Organizer Cerwin Eviota of J Centre Mall is excited about the latest sporting event being hosted by the newly built mall.
J Centre already hosted a basketball tournament dubbed Private Schools Developmental League last August.
Players from schools not part of the prestigious Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) will compete in this tournament.
“We are aiming to develop their skills and sportmanship in this tournament,” said Eviota during the launching yesterday at the J Centre Mall.
The tournament will only award trophies and medals to the winners to encourage players to compete not for money, but for the love for sports.
The tournament is supported by the Mandaue City Government through the efforts of vice mayor Glenn Bercede. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
