Mandaue govt inspects buildings
The City Engineer’s Office of Mandaue City started inspecting all the buildings yesterday to check their structural integrity following the earthquake last Friday.
Acting city engineer Dario Mago said they will be inspecting all building including public and private schools.
The 75-year-old Presidencia Building which serves as the City Hall will also be included in the inspection. The original structure of the Mandaue presidencia was inaugurated in 1937 and the expansions were added in 1975.
Engr. Chelo Jamora, in charge of Department of Education (DepEd) physical properties said that they have already started to get rid of the wooden two story building with 22 classrooms of the Comprehensive National High School.
Classes in the schoolJamora said were divided into two shifts to cope with the loss classrooms.
She added the disuse of the building was actually recommended after February’s earthquake. Correspondent Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
