5.9-magnitude quake hits Sultan Kudarat
MANILA, Philippines – A 5.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Sultan Kudarat Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 36 kilometers. It was recorded 67 kilometers northwest of Alimbang at 2:49 p.m.
It was felt at Intensity IV in Cotabato City; Intensity III in Datu Hoffer and Datu Unsay in Maguindanao; Intensity II in Zamboanga City; Kidapawan City and Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
No damages were recorded so far but aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
