Shallow LPA less likely to become cyclone – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy over the western section as southwest monsoon affects Southern Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Monday.

Meanwhile, a shallow low pressure area (SLPA) spotted off Visayas is less likely to become a cyclone, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The SLPA was seen 470 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to south with slight to moderate seas.
