UV faces pros in exhibition game today

/ 07:42 AM September 01, 2012

WITH A LONG break in the offing following their undefeated run through the elimination round of the Cesafi, the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will be taking on a talented and veteran-laden team composed of players from the PBA, the D-League and the ABL in an exhibition game set at 4 p.m. today at the UV gym.

The Lancers are already assured of a seat in the semifinal round after they swept through the rest of their games.

A 16-day break looms on the horizon for the wards of head coach Felix Belano, hence the need to find ways to keep them in tip-top shape.

Today, they will be facing off against a team composed of former PBA players, Rob Wainwright, Mark Andaya, Al Vergara, Ramsey Williams and Ken Bono. Also on that team are former UV stalwarts, Stephen Padilla and Jayford Rodriguez. Completing the team are Cebuano forward, JR Gerilla and their import, the 6-foot-9 James Garnette from France./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
