Suicide in Borbon

A 35-year-old man was found dead hanging by the neck in his house in barangay Bili, Borbon town last Thursday evening.

Rolando Comendador, married, used nylon rope to kill himself. Police said a suicide note was found where Comendador wrote down his last wishes to be buried with other deceased members of his family.

He and his family ate supper that night but Comendador was more than usually quiet, said his wife Erlinda.

The wife said she didn’t mind this since her husband, who had a nervous breakdown before, would act withdrawn at times. PO2 Bernaino Almeida Jr. said the victim got an opportunity to end his life when he was alone their nipa hut.

In Badian town, southwest Cebu, a 52-year-old man was killed after attending fiesta celebration in barangay Bugas. The victim, Cristito Pagao, had severe head injuries. During the fiesta benefit dance, the victim had a drinking spree with friends. The victim was last seen going home and walking through a cornfield. His lifeless body was found the next morning.

SPO1 Jon Caballero of Badian police said Pagao could have been struck on the head with a rock. The case is under investigation.

Talisay ROBBERY

A 23-year-old man was robbed by three motorcycle-riding men inside Sta. Lucia Subdivision, Talisay City yesterday dawn.

Ranulfo Nahini, single, lost his bag and other personal belongings. A resident of barangay Cabanayan, Bulacao, Talisay City, Naghini was on his way home when one of the men pointed a gun and declared a hold-up. Out of fear, Nahini gave up his bag with a cellular phone, and extra pair of pants and shirt inside. The victim immediately reported to the Talisay City police./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

Fighting cocks

At least 21 fighting cocks owned by two men were stolen in barangay Pandacan, Pinamungajan town, southwest Cebu Thursday dawn.

Wilfredo Kilaton, a fisherman, and Disiderio, a carpenter reported the loss to the police.

They were asleep at home when perpetrators barged into their premises simultaneously. Their neighbors said that they saw a group of men acting suspiciously near the area prior to the incident.

Hot pursuit by Pinamungajan police led by Insp. Bonifacio Lucerna led to barangay Sangi, Toledo City where they arrested Ricardo Hisma Bacasmas, 55, and a 14-year-old boy, both residents of sitio Sipres, barangay Dumlog, Toledo City.

Another suspect identified as Reyboy Bacasmas and two other unidentified men eluded arrest. Police recovered one yellow motorcycle with a side car, six live fighting cocks and one already dead. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

Police round up rugby boys

A police official said authorities have rounded up most of the street children sniffing ruby in Fuente Osmeña and downtown Colon, Cebu City.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of City Intelligence Branch (CIB) told reporters they picked up “rugby boys” aged 7 to 14 years old who placed the glue in cellophane bags to inhale. A 32-year-old man barely survived a shooting attack in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Thursday night. He was shot four times while sleeping inside a multicab on Thursday night.
