MANILA, Philippines—Operations of Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT) have resumed after an alleged suicide incident shortly before dawn Thursday, a spokesman for the LRT Authority said.
In a Twitter post, lawyer Hernando Cabrera said the train services in the entire stretch of LRT1 were restored after its operations were hampered when a woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the tracks of the trains and was hit by an incoming train.
Cabrera said security cameras in the area showed that “the woman jumped into the tracks right after the platform guard walked by her.”
The still unidentified woman was estimated to be around 50 to 60 years old and was wearing what appeared to be a hospital patient gown and jogging pants.
The incident took place at the EDSA station around 5:50 a.m., and the victim was taken out of the area some three hours after.
Trips were affected since then and trains operated only from Vito Cruz to Roosevely, and back.
