Child dies by mauling, infant hit by stray bullet

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy died at the hands of a suspected drug addict while a three-month old baby was wounded by a stray bullet in separate incidents in Talisay and Mandaue cities last Tuesday.

Jeffrey Abusejo Jr., was playing outside his house in Biasong, Talisay City when he accidentally hit the suspect identified as Kienner Baller at past 5 p.m last Tuesday.

Insp. Romeo Caacoy said Baller got mad, picked up the kid by his two legs and smashed his head straight into the pavement.

Caacoy said the boy died before reaching the Talisay City district hospital.

Baller fled after the incident but he was arrested later by police near the area. He faces murder charges before the Talisay City prosecutor’s office.

The suspect is now detained at the Talisay City police precinct.

Caacoy said Baller used to be admitted to a drug rehabilitation center.

In barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City a three-month old baby boy landed in a hospital after being hit by a stray bullet in the head at his home at past 7 p.m last Tuesday.

The baby’s mother, Carmel Dumadapat, told police that she was trying to make her child sleep when she noticed blood coursing down his head.

She said she saw a hole from a piece of cloth used as part of a hammock for her baby.

Dumadapat brought her child named Denzel to the Eversley Hospital in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City but he was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City because he needed an operation.

Doctors found one.38 bullet embedded in the right portion of the baby’s head. The child is under observation.

PO2 Bruce Taneo said they saw a bullet hole in the plywood window.

They asked neighbors but nobody noticed any gunshot.
