MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Army on Tuesday mourned the death of its Vice Commander, Major General Rudival Cabading, who died of cardiac arrest on Monday night.
“We join his whole family and friends in grieving for the loss of a loving husband, a devoted father, a good friend, and a dedicated soldier and public servant,” said an army statement.
Army spokesman Colonel Antonio Parlade Jr., he said the 55-year-old army man was found unconscious inside the bathroom of his home at the AFP Officers Village at around 9:45 p.m. He was rushed to the General Hospital, but died at around 11:45 p.m.
A member of the Philippine Military Class of 1978, Cabading became the 22nd Vice Commander of the army back on July 11 this year. He had served as the chief of engineers at the Office of the Chief Engineers (OTCE) at the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was also executive officer of the Headquarters Company, Engineer Construction Battalion, 51st Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army.
Cabading took on important roles as commanding officer of the Engineering Support Battalion, 53rd Engineering Brigade, Philippine Army; as deputy, Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4, Philippine Army; as Chief, Army Real State Office, Philippine Army; and as Commanding General, 53rd Engineering Brigade, Philippine Army.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Star Medals, Bronze Cross Medals, Military Merit Medals, Military Commendation Medals, Ribbons, Plaques and Badges.
The Army statement said it will accord Cabading full military honors during his burial.
