Rebel killed in clash with military in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines – Communist rebels clashed with the government forces on Tuesday morning in Bulacan, leaving one rebel killed.

Army Chief Lieutenant General Arturo Ortiz , in a text message, said that a rebel was killed in a 30-minute gun fight between members of the New People’s Army and soldiers belonging to the 56th Infantry Battalion at Barangay (village) Sapang Bulak in Doña Remedios Trinidad town in Bulacan. The encounter happened in the early hours of the morning.

Ortiz said that no one from the government side was injured, or killed.
