MANILA, Philippines — As tropical storm “Igme” made its way out of the Philippine area of responsibility, a new low pressure area was spotted near Mindanao, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
The LPA was seen 700 kilometers east of Mindanao and should it become a cyclone, it would be called Karen, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The seasonal southwest monsoon is affecting Luzon and will bring rains in the area.
Luzon and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, while Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, said Pagasa.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwesr to south over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
Pagasa also terminated at 7:50 a.m. its thunderstorm warning in Camanava issued at 6:25a.m.
